Nifty little Nova just finished up here at Proficient. Nubbs Wagner is a pool cue maker out of Wisconsin who has been making pool cues since 1994. Nova cues are easy to identify by the Nova logo on the butt cap.

Early unmarked Jerry Franklin Southwest cue. The company Southwest cues started making cues in 1982. Jerry Franklin began with cue repair as most do in the early 80’s. DPK Kersenbrock helped form Southwest cues. Early examples are unmarked and can be authenticated by Southwest cues. Cues after 93 are easy to identify and have a brass pin with a cactus, date, and number. Jerry passed away at the age of 42. His wife Laurie Franklin and family continue to run the business. Southwest cues are highly sought after and there is a lengthy waiting period for one. Pool Hall Junkies the movie also helped to catapult Southwest cues. Meucci 97-21 just finished up. Bob Meucci is a cue maker who began making pool cues in 1975 out of Mississippi. Meucci cues are some of the most recognized pool cues on the planet. early models had Meucci Originals on the butt sleeve. Later models had the Meucci script writing on the butt cap. Bob now has a line of custom cues that has a BMC logo also.

This is a custom order Palmer cue. Palmer custom cues was started in 1964 in Elizabeth New Jersey. Early models were not marked. Some models had the gold foil that said original by Palmer in the window. Later models had Palmer on the butt cap, and also Palmer custom cue on the butt cap.

David Paul Kersenbrock began making pool cues in 1972 in Illinois. Through the years he was instrumental in helping Jerry Franklin at Southwest, and also with Omega cues. Kersenbrock cues are for the most part unsigned. If you need authentication of a Kersenbrock cue, the best person to do that would be Lauri at Southwest pool cues.

What do you have in that case?… DOOM. One of my first cues from back in the day and certainly an iconic cue of the time. I bought this back in the early 90’s put some miles on it and have it in collection since. Still have the old school hard case my Dad bought for me. Just dusted off, refinished, and replaced one of the flippers. She is the belle of the ball and turns heads from across any room.
Perry Weston no points birdseye cue. This cue just came out of a 21 year collection here at Proficient. This cue was Brandon Sluzalis’ playing cue when he was a young kid. I had the opportunity to buy it at Susie Cue Billiards I guess more than a couple decades ago (doesn’t seem that long ago). Don (a good customer) stopped in the other day to pick up some work and was asking about Weston’s. Since he used to play at Susie Cue’s and knew the history behind the cue I decided to pass the torch. This cue is battle tested and proven. It will be better out there being used than hanging on the wall here.
