Scot Sherbine cue “DocBushka”

“DocBushka” Scot Sherbine cue – all that glitters is gold

The artistry involved in creating a Scot Sherbine cue is truly exceptional. Each cue is not just a tool for playing but a work of art that reflects both the skill of the craftsman and the passion for the game. This particular cue, bearing the influence of George Balabushka and Doc Frye, exemplifies how traditional techniques can merge with modern creativity.

When designing a cue for a specific collection like the Petracca collection, it’s crucial to consider the personality and interests of the owner. A well-crafted cue not only serves a practical purpose but can also hold significant emotional value. In this case, the challenge was to blend the classic characteristics of a Titlist cue with unique elements that appealed to a Ferrari enthusiast. This led to a creative exploration of colors, materials, and design elements that evoke speed and elegance, similar to the exotic cars that inspire the collector.

The cue looks like it is going 100mph sitting still. Just as a Ferrari stands out on the road, this Scot Sherbine cue is designed to catch the eye on the pool table, where style and performance meet.

Experiencing the balance and action of a Scot Sherbine cue firsthand enhances the understanding of why these cues are so highly regarded. Players often find that the connection between the cue and their playing style can significantly impact their game. This cue’s design facilitates a smooth stroke, while the Big Game tip offers excellent feedback, helping players make those critical shots count. Many enthusiasts find themselves reluctant to put down a cue that feels this good in their hands.

The craftsmanship that goes into each Scot Sherbine cue is a testament to traditional billiards making. Each step, from selecting the materials to final finishing touches, is done with meticulous care. The use of a Scripta pantograph for engraving is an example of how time-honored techniques are preserved and valued. However, the incorporation of modern finishes, like the high-tech urethane, showcases how the industry evolves while still respecting its roots. This blend of old and new not only enhances durability but also maintains the aesthetic appeal that players and collectors look for.

Length – 58.5 inches
Shaft – 13mm aegis ferrule with a Big Game Tip www.biggametips.com
Weight – 19.2 ounces

This Scot Sherbine cue is made to play. Perfect balance and plenty of action. I had the chance to play around with this one for an afternoon and I will miss it when it is gone.

This Scot Sherbine cue and all that I build are built by hand and without the aid of any computer equipment. This is built as it would have been back in the day. The cue is full splice Titlist. The Scripta pantograph that I use outdates me. The newest thing on this cue is the high tech urethane finish that we use here that all of our refinishing customers appreciate and keep coming back for.

Taking a break from cue making can lead to a fresh perspective when returning to the craft. Each cue built after a hiatus often carries a renewed passion and excitement. This Scot Sherbine cue exemplifies how stepping back can provide clarity and inspire new ideas. The desire to create something unique, combined with the experience gained over the years, often results in a cue that stands out in any collection.
