This is 1984 Gus Szamboti cue sent in for a refinish and a new lizard wrap by its original owner. The Cortland wrap was replaced with black lizard due to dry rot. The owner made a good choice. This McDermott D19 cue is a great example showing how some logos can be brought back to life. Jim McDermott started the McDermott cue company in 1975 in Wisconsin. McDermott cues are easy to identify with the four leaf clover surrounding an M on the butt cap. Later models had a gold decal McDermott logo. Pictured is a Nubs Wagner Nova cue that was bought new in 2001 at the Super Billiards Expo. The original owner said he paid $350 at that time. The cue was here for finish work and a new Irish linen wrap. Nova cues are easy to identify by their black phenolic insert on the shaft, or the logo on the butt cap. Also (as pictured) and not always known they have their company stamp under the linen wrap.

Alternating black and white points look really awesome on this Schon cue. It’s something that you usually don’t see. It has the older gold letter Schon shaft, which we are able to maintain during the finish process. This one came in for a refinish, and a leather wrap. This Ariel Carmeli cue was sent for a butt sleeve refinish only. The elephant ear wrap was maintained throughout the process, and re-dyed after the finish work was completed. This cue has the well known split ring Carmeli design. Ariel has been making cues since 1994, and is located in California.
This is a rarely seen Schon cue with the logo in one of the ivory windows. Almost all Schon cues have the logo on the butt cap. It’s an interesting design, with four ebony points featuring floating ivory inlays.
